We present a rare case of cryptococcal fungemia in the setting of dexamethasone use for hypoxemic respiratory failure in a patient with SARS-CoV-2 infection. Case Presentation The patient is a 59-year-old male who had recently immigrated to the United States from Costa Rica with a WebCryptococcus gattii ( C. gattii) is a fungus that can cause a disease called cryptococcosis. Cryptococcosis usually affects the lungs or the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord), but it can also affect other parts of the body. Brain infections caused by C. gattii and other types of Cryptococcus are called cryptococcal meningitis.
