He was the great-grandson of Henry Guise, younger brother of the first baronet. Highnam Court (pictured) is a 17th-century, Grade I listed building in Highnam, Gloucestershire, just north of the A40. The country house was built in 1658 for William Cooke, the son of Sir Robert Cooke, following damage to the original structure in the English Civil War.
